10 Years Since JV1 Went Offline

It's been just over 10 years since JV1 abruptly went offline forever
What are your memories/thoughts of what happened from the initial finding it that it was offline, to it being offline for days, and then forever?

I remember hoping it'd come back and regretting that I had no other form of contact with people on there. Roughly 3 weeks later I remembered there was a JV subreddit and found Acid Forums via that, now another dead forum! (Most people who were active on Acid Forums that I talked to I stlll do have contact with though.) I then found JV2 via YouTube in 2019 via the bls Motley Monday vids, I found them because I saw bls comment on the Broken Jiggmin Games Gameplay vid from TumTum (which I rewatch sometimes because I find it funny) and I remembered bls from JV, so I subbed and a couple of weeks later, Motley Monday 12 came out which was a big one and I went to JV2 and PR2 again from that.

At first I thought, well maybe the site is just having some technical difficulties and hopefully it’ll be up and running in a couple of days. But when those days started to turn into weeks, I thought that was officially the end of an era; at least my era, anyways. A lot of you guys were kids in elementary school when the initial JV came out. Me, I was 15 when it first came out. Then a year later I created my first account when I was 16. I think it was Monster500 or something like that. Anyways, I remember it was a different time period compared to now because you were dealing with a different generation of kids who talked and behaved differently compared to now.

There was no scrolling through social media pics, exposing someone on social media, YouTube shorts, goofy Tik Tok videos, or even fancy phones where you downloaded apps and became addicted to games like Candy Crush on your phone. Growing up back in the 2000s and earlier, you were literally taught to be more sociable amongst your peers instead of isolating yourself from one another. Also, there was no cancel culture so you could pretty much get away with making an ass out of yourself without worrying about being exposed by someone on YouTube or any other social media platforms.

So with JV1, this was our own little site to express ourselves as teenagers and people in the twenties. Again, you’re talking about people born between the early 80s and 90s. The 2000s were just very nostalgic and laid back because you had the freedom to not only express yourself, but also not have to stress over idiots from other social media platforms trash talking you behind your back.

JV1 and PR2 was all we looked forward to when we got home from school back in the day. It was lit because JV was fairly new and you wanted a place to be a goofy kid amongst your peers. Nowadays, we’re in a different time period where no one seems to care anymore in this generation. Acid Forums basically picked up where we left off from the early days of JV, and did it successfully. After them, JV went down hill because they had to compete with new platforms like Discord for instance. JV2 is just a lost art compared to the magic we used to have.

I remember a week or two after, I found a former member named Rocktrns made the first ever JV revival forum called Jiggmin's Community or something like that (that is an obscure throwback). It failed after a month when everyone just went to Acid Forums (rip, legends never die).

I remember that.. I signed up for that and when I tried to return to it. it was a completely different pc gaming forum with a different engine unrelated to JV
